Reviews from Expats and Travelers

"Dra. Gabriela Franco made me feel so at ease. She is so kind and knowledgeable. She took all consideration for my safety and circumstances. She even recommended to do another round of test and review with specialists to ensure she was certain about what treatment was needed for me. I’m usually very scared to go to the dentist but the doctor made it really easy. She also speaks great enlglish."

How Invisalign Works

1

Virtual consultation

You can start from your home country, if you are in the U.S. or Canada, you can share photos and book a quick video call to find out if you are a good candidate.

2

In-person visit for digital scans

On your visit, a comprehensive oral exam will be made with a 3D iTero scan. You will see a 3d simulation of how your teeth will move. Once you approve the simulation, the aligners will be ordered, they usually take 1-3 weeks to produce.

3

Second clinic visit: Aligner delivery

During the second visit you will try on your first set of aligners and get instructions for wear and care. The doctor will ensure that they fit correctly.

4

Follow-ups

For simple cases, 2-3 in-clinic visits (every 6-12 months) are necessary for the scans, aligner pickup, and final retainer. For moderate cases 3-5 visits may be necessary (every 8 weeks) for refinements. Most of the monitoring can be done remotely.

5

Refinements

In some cases the original treatment may need to be extended if teeth need extra movement. In that case the doctor will order refinement aligners or place attachments.

6

Final clinic visit: Retainers

During your final visit, a final evaluation will be made and you will be given instructions for wearing retainers in order to prevent relapse.

Why americans choose Mexico for Invisalign

Every year thousands of Americans come to Mexico for dental treatment. These patients choose Mexico because they save up to 50% compared to the US on Invisalign and other orthodontic treatments. Mexico uses the same modern equipment for digital imaging and the clinics adhere to excellent hygiene standards. The healthcare providers in popular expat areas such as Polanco and Roma have a good understanding of English and therefore you don't have to worry about miscommunications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Invisalign safe in Mexico?

Yes. Invisalign treatment is standardized worldwide, and the aligners are produced using the same high-quality materials and technology used in the U.S. The difference is cost—not quality. Reputable clinics in Mexico use modern equipment, 3D digital scans, strict hygiene protocols, and follow the same treatment standards as U.S. providers.

How many visits do I need to be in the clinic?

Most patients only need 2 in-person visits to start treatment: Initial exam + 3D digital scan Aligner delivery + first fitting After that, most progress checks can be done remotely using photos or video. Some cases may require a visit mid-treatment if attachments, refinements, or adjustments are needed, but many straightforward cases only require a final visit for retainers.

Can my Invisalign treatment be followed up remotely?

Yes. Once you receive your aligners, most of the treatment is easily monitored remotely. You’ll send periodic photos or short videos via WhatsApp, and the doctor checks that the aligners are tracking properly. Remote monitoring works especially well for travelers, digital nomads, and expats who aren’t always in the same city.

What if I live in the U.S. or leave Mexico during treatment?

No problem. Your doctor can monitor your progress virtually, and aligners (including refinement trays) can be shipped to your home in the U.S. or Mexico. As long as you send your updates on time, your treatment will stay on track.

Do you accept American dental insurance?

Most Mexican clinics do not bill U.S. insurance directly, but many American patients receive partial reimbursement from their insurance provider. The clinic provides: ADA-style receipts Treatment codes Letters of medical necessity (if required) You can then submit the documents to your insurance company for reimbursement.

How often do I need to switch aligners?

Most patients switch trays every 1–2 weeks, depending on the treatment plan. Your doctor will give you clear instructions.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

It depends on your case: Mild cases: 3–6 months Moderate cases: 6–12 months More complex cases: 12–18 months or longer Remote progress checks help ensure the timeline stays consistent even if you travel.

Is the treatment the same as Invisalign in the U.S.?

Yes. Invisalign aligners are made in the same certified laboratories and follow the same digital treatment planning process (ClinCheck). The difference is the lower cost of dental care in Mexico—not the quality of the product.

Do I need to come back to Mexico to finish treatment?

Not necessarily. Your final evaluation and retainers can be handled during a follow-up trip, or retainers can be shipped to you. Some patients prefer a final in-person visit, but it’s not mandatory for every case.

Will I need attachments (small tooth-colored bumps)?

Many Invisalign cases require attachments for precise movement. These are applied during an in-clinic visit and are easy to remove later. If attachments are needed, this will be done during your aligner fitting appointment (your second visit).

Can I start treatment during a vacation in Mexico?

Yes. Many Americans start treatment during a short trip. You’ll need: One appointment for the exam and 3D scan A second appointment 1–3 weeks later to pick up your aligners (or they can be shipped) If you plan ahead, both visits can be scheduled around your travel dates.

What happens if an aligner breaks or I lose one?

You should contact the clinic immediately. In most cases, you can either: Move to the next aligner, or Order a replacement that can be shipped to you The doctor will tell you the safest step based on your progress.
