Oral candidiasis, commonly known as thrush, is a fungal infection of the mouth caused by Candida albicans that presents as white patches on the tongue, inner cheeks, or other oral tissues. It results from an overgrowth of yeast in the oral cavity and can cause discomfort, difficulty eating, and altered taste.
